Hardwood Floor Clean & Buff

Dirt brought in from the outside will eventually build up and cause your floors to become dirty and dull. Cleaning with the wrong products will cause your floors to become sticky, leaving a cloudy film behind — either one of the two will leave your floors with an unattractive appearance. This is why a professional Clean and Buff is the best option for dirty floors with or without residue build-up. This process will bring your hardwood floors back to life, revealing the true beauty!

Our Hardwood Floor Clean & Buff Process

  1. The first step of the process is to remove any loose soil; this will help decrease any chance of scratching up the polyurethane.
  2. The second step is to treat the floor with a cleaning solution and allow the solution time to break down the dirt and residue embedded in the polyurethane.
  3. The third step is to use special cleaning equipment to agitate the floor, not to remove the polyurethane, only the residue and dirt.
  4. The fourth step is to extract the residue and dirt from the floor. The fifth step is to buff the floor with a cotton pad to remove any remaining dirt and residue. This step in the process will bring out the natural sheen.

Hardwood Floor Wax Removal

Sometimes using store-bought products that are advertised to help make your floors shine can leave build-up on your floors which can result in them becoming dull and dirty. These products attract dirt and will continue to do so even after you stop using them. Normal cleaning will not remove these products. A professional wax removal will need to be done to bring your floor back to a natural state — and that is exactly what ProScout can do for you.

Hardwood Floor Wax Removal Process

  1. Once the area has been prepared for the wax removal, the first step is to treat the floor with a product to emulsify the wax.
  2. The second step is to agitate the emulsified wax, leaving it ready for extraction.
  3. The third step is to extract the wax using our self-contained extraction system without leaving a mess!
  4. Step four is to repeat step three using a neutralizer to restore the pH balance of the wood. This will remove any contaminants left on the floor.

Hardwood Floor Screening & Recoating

When it comes to your hardwood floors, screening is the process of taking off the top layer of polyurethane while leaving the wood underneath untouched. Screening and recoating are done to remove dull and minor scratches in the polyurethane. Screening removes the old protective layer from the hardwood. Recoating is recoating the hardwood with new polyurethane to protect the wood.

A screening and recoating process is cheaper and faster than sanding or replacing your floors. A screen and recoat can be done in one day and can ensure that your hardwood floor lasts longer. Recoating only removes the old layer of polyurethane. Screen and recoat is a maintenance process to keep your hardwood floor healthy and long-lasting.

Hardwood Floor Screening & Recoating Process

  1. The first part of the screen and recoat process is to remove the old polyurethane. This is done by using special equipment to abrade the floor and remove the old coating of polyurethane.
  2. The second step is to thoroughly clean and remove any remaining residue before applying two coats of polyurethane. This will leave your floors with a nice smooth finish.
